Riding Association

Appledore and District Riding Association (ADRA)

Appledore Parish Council Riding Association

The riding club was founded in 1988 in response to an item in the Parish Magazine asking if there were any riding enthusiasts in the area who would like to form a club. Some years later the club affiliated to British Riding Clubs and became part of a nationwide network of clubs. British Riding Clubs runs local and national competitions but as our club has remained quite small, we have rarely entered teams. However, the opportunity is there for any competitive riders.

The events we hold in Appledore include treasure hunts, competitions to negotiate trec obstacles, combined training, a mini show, gymkhana games and other ridden events that our members suggest. We sometimes organise group lessons, which take place at Bethersden and also have social events such as a summer barbecue, a Christmas trip to Olympia and a Christmas meal.

The club was founded for adults but also caters for children and offers activities suitable for all capabilities from lead rein to advanced riders. We are happy to call ourselves a small and friendly club.
